History of Hariana

Hariana enjoys respectable share in the history of Punjab. It is the place where Sikh King Baba Baghel Singh Ji lived his last days. Baghel Singh was a major military general during the 18th century. In the year 1776, his forces were defeated by the imperial army of Shah Alam II, a Mughal Emperor, near Muzaffarnagar. Later, the Sikh forces had joined the army of Zabita Khan to stride on Delhi but the Mughals were too strong for them. During the last days of the year 1778, Sikhs revolted, defeated and then killed the Mughal Faujdar of Sirhind named Maulah Ahmad Dad. Once the Mughal Emperor killed by the Sikhs, the Mughal forces were driven back by them and thereafter, the Sikhs raided at east with Delhi as their main target. Subsequently, the Red Fort was captured by them and Baghel Singh built an octroi post in Chandni Chowk in March 1783. But in the year 1802, he died at Hariana.

The city of Hariana, Punjab, is located at the latitude and longitude of 31.64 °North and 75.84 °East, respectively. It has an average elevation of 300 meters above the sea level. The climate conditions here are varied according to the seasons. The summer season starts at this city from April and lasts up to June with maximum temperature can reaches up to 40°C. It is followed by the monsoon season during which the precipitation starts falling from mid July till the month of September. The region experiences maximum rain falls in July-August period with an average of 132 mm. Furthermore, winters arrive at this city during the end of November and last up to mid February.
